The Grand Canyon Adventure: Off-Grid Living, Solo Camping, and the Ultimate Road Trip Finale

If you’ve ever dreamed of exploring America’s most iconic natural wonder , the Grand Canyon , and doing it completely off-grid like I did , this post is for you. This was the grand finale of my road trip series — the best content I’ve ever filmed — and I’m excited to share the adventure, challenges, and lessons I learned along the way. Why the Grand Canyon? The Grand Canyon isn’t just a breathtaking view — it’s an adrenaline rush for explorers like me who thrive on adventure and solitude. As a U.S. veteran , solo camping has always been my way of finding peace, pushing my limits, and making memories that last a lifetime. This trip was no exception. From heart-pounding cliffside hikes to quiet moments watching the sun rise over the canyon rim, every second felt like a gift. The scale of the Grand Canyon can’t be captured in a single shot — but I tried my best! Off-Grid Survival at Its Best Living off-grid means being prepared for anything , especially when you’re hundreds of mile...

Ways to survive 2024

I am a survivalist and a war veteran. Suppose you’re looking for ways to survive this year. You come to the right place. I’ve been through hell and beyond. I am redlining through life as an entrepreneur.   You could start with a side hustle if working a 9-5 isn’t enough to get by. Spend less time watching TV and playing video games.   But in my spare time, I use Inbox dollars and play games that pay a few cents if not dollars.   The app has me excited to complete tasks that offer dollar amounts. Think of it like a piggybank. If you can afford it, invest in rental property. I have been blessed and live more comfortably by renting my house in North Carolina with the help of a property manager and my Jeep out on Turo in California. Turo has been more seasonal but the extra income for the year has helped.   I live in California and it’s great to turn in cans and glass for money, so if you live in a state that pays for recyclables,  It’s good pocket change fo...

Looking for business ideas

Business ideas that actually make money. I've been a truck driver for a company and that 10 am to 10 pm life 6 days a week was a grind. That company overworked me and I was eventually laid off. So I decided it was time to be my own boss. I signed up to be an Amazon affiliate. I started a YouTube Channel on How to Survive Your Backyard Off-Grid. Funny story but Now I'm a Tired low-paid Rideshare driver. It seems like there just isn't enough work now with just about everyone doing Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash. Two and a half years doing Uber. It was great but with the economy now. I need to find business ideas that actually make money. I could make furniture or flip antiques. But that takes hard labor and marketing to get it sold. I've made candles and have a candle shop. Just check it out for yourself if you'd like. It's Backyardog.shop   Candles are fun year-round for me but not for everyone else haha! My home-based business is full of candles and my brain is full...

Candles for a Cause

I have to say this was just supposed to be a fun hobby. But I enjoy helping people too. Making candles has always been fun for me. So we started Candles for a Cause on my website www.backyardog.shop . I also started making candles for my eBay shop. So far, I've had one sold and a few more with bids. Candles are great gifts. I know they will light up someone's life. With every candle auction, it will benefit a charity. It's a candle for a cause after all. My favorite scent is vanilla and it has been for years. I was a little pyro and the candles were pleasant to watch. I'm sure I had adult supervision when playing with candles. But long story short I'm a Veteran owned business. I enjoy camping, hiking, and kayaking. I plan on making more candles for a cause to help the charity I choose.  Hopefully, you'll enjoy the candles I make if you've read this far and were able to make a purchase. Be sure to check out our eBay Shop . Happy bidding!  Apple Scented Mason...

What does it take to be a content creator?

In my personal experience off-grid and as an actor. The content you create should be geared towards your audience. I just got banned from posting videos on YouTube for 90 days. Will I survive? The answer is yes. As an entrepreneur and content creator, I will stop at nothing to express myself. If you want motivation. I make content on motivation and survival. I can also do acting and voice acting. I make my own music for my videos because if you want to be successful and survive. You have to produce original content. Organic content is the way to go. I don't care what I post sometimes. I enjoy comedy as well. Sometimes I will post vlogs or blog about comedy. But I enjoy camping and being off-grid. So yes, I have what it takes to be a content creator. I will never give up on my dreams.  I also make candles. If my content has to be based around camping and candle-making. I will produce enough candles to sell in the TikTok Shop just to fund my journey and tell my story. I've been...

Can I survive as a YouTuber

I have been on YouTube for several years now. I've done acting content and I barely made a dent. I needed help to get likes, shares, and subscribers. I eventually gave up on the acting channel. I kept it as a part-time thing. A hobby more or less. Then I decided to use my military survival skills and start Backyard Off-Grid. After accidentally burning down my house. The fire uncovered an illegal foundation and after not one. But Three years of living in my backyard. I have a house with solar and fire sprinklers. I'm an entrepreneur, Rideshare driver, and content creator. With a little over 715 subscribers on YouTube. I'm sure that "I can survive as a YouTuber." I go camping, hiking, kayaking, and on road trips.  I'm a solo traveler looking for my soul mate and trying to be a Full-Time YouTuber. I created this blog to tell my story and hope that there are people out there inspired by my journey and story. If you search Backyard Off-Grid on YouTube you'll f...
